Welcome to WAgriCo's website for the UK's pilot areas

The Water Resources Management in Cooperation with Agriculture project – WAgriCo - is to demonstrate in pilot areas how the cooperation between water resources management and agriculture can be used to reduce diffuse pollution for the sustainable achievement of the environmental objectives for groundwater set out in Article 4 and 7 of the EC Water Framework Directive.

It is a collaborative project piloted in the UK (south west England) and Germany (Lower Saxony). In each location partnerships have been put in place to manage the project in each location. The project is co-funded by the partnerships and by a contribution from the LIFE financial instrument of the European Community. Additional co-funding has been made available by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) in the UK and Niedersachsisches (Nds. MU) in Lower Saxony.
